One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster. The bars are temples, but the pearls ain't free. You'll find a god in every golden cloister, A little flesh, a little history. I can feel an angel sliding up to me.
One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble. Not much between despair and ecstasy. One night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble. Can't be too careful with your company. I can feel the devil walking next to me.
Nights in white satin, never reaching the end, Letters I've written, never meaning to send. Beauty I'd always missed with these eyes before. Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore.
'Cos I love you, yes I love you, oh how I love you.
"Nights in White Satin" by The Moody Blues
By the way, I just have to say this because Calinda will find it amusing. You know when you post they make you type in a random word to prove you are human? My word for the last post was "undead."
I was struck by lighting Walkin' down the street I was hit by something last night in my sleep It's a dead man's party Who could ask for more Everybody's comin', leave your body at the door Leave your body and soul at the door . . . (Don't run away it's only me)
Dead Man's Pary by Oingo Boing (Danny Elfman)
Thanks Candace, your bit about the word being undead made me think of this song. I just have one question. If you're dead and you leave your body AND soul at the door what do you have left to go into the party?
By the way, I forgot to mention, Calinda, did you know Murray Head sang the part of Judas in the original production of Jesus Christ, Superstar. One Night in Bangkok is from a Broadway musical called "Chess". I haven't seen it, I wish they would do a revival of it.
That is hilarious, Candace, about the Russian version and about the "undead" word of the day to prove you're alive.
Plus, I have never seen that Moody Blues song written out before, only heard it on the radio, and thought the song was "Knights in white satin". Haha! I wondered why the white satin rather than white some other material. Makes more sense with NIGHTS. (Never listened to the rest of the words, either...so they may make totally no sense with my misinterpreted spelling.)
That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia That's the night that they hung an innocent man Well don't trust your soul to no back woods southern lawyer Cause the judge in the town's got bloodstains on his hands

Nice find on that other one ST. I was looking for that song a while back when I heard it on my net radio. Hoping that is the mix I had in mind.
I have a mix of "One Night in Bangkok" that is all in Russian, except for the line "I get my kicks above the waistline, Sunshine." I love it.
